Invisalign® and Braces
What are Invisalign and ClearCorrect?
Invisalign and ClearCorrect are discreet, easy-to-use alternatives to traditional braces. With traditional braces, sticky foods get caught in the metal, which forces you to have dietary restrictions.
Invisalign and ClearCorrect eliminate this problem because the mouthpieces are removable, making eating and cleaning your teeth a breeze. Unlike metal braces, they’re invisible on your teeth, made from comfortable materials, and easy to maintain.
What’s the difference between Invisalign and ClearCorrect?
The biggest difference is the fit. ClearCorrect is thinner than Invisalign, so it’s less noticeable when worn. But both are easy to remove and clean, plus provide an alternative for patients with allergies to the metals found in traditional braces.
How do I know I’m a candidate for these mouthpieces?
Adults and teenagers are the perfect candidates for Invisalign and ClearCorrect. However, children aren't, because their teeth are still growing. The following conditions are treatable with Invisalign and ClearCorrect:
- Gapped teeth
- Overbites
- Underbites
- Crowded teeth
- Crossbites
If you experience severe cases of the above conditions, Dr. Veligdan may recommend additional examinations. This way, he can determine whether mouthpieces are the best treatment option based on your symptoms.
What is the procedure for Invisalign and ClearCorrect?
The procedure begins with a consultation. Dr. Veligdan takes digital impressions of your teeth to determine how to fix the misalignment or close the gaps. The impressions help build your custom mouthpieces, but they’re also a preview of what your smile will look like after completing treatment.
Several mouthpieces are created with your impressions, and Dr. Veligdan replaces each one with a new version as your gaps and misalignment are corrected gently. Once the mouthpieces are built, Dr. Veligdan checks the fit to make sure additional adjustments aren’t necessary. Then he’ll provide instructions.
You must wear your mouthpiece for 20-22 hours each day, removing it to eat, brush your teeth, or when playing contact sports. Typically after six weeks, Dr. Veligdan meets with you to assess your progress and swaps the previously used mouthpiece with a newer version for further alignment of your teeth. How long the treatment lasts is on par with traditional braces.
Invisalign and ClearCorrect help you gain a brighter, straighter smile without avoiding the foods and activities you love. Learn more about these treatments by booking your appointment online or call Dr. Veligdan today.
